a christmas ornament tradition
She introduced me to one of her favorite Christmas traditions.
She has five children and for years she has been collecting decorations for each of her children so that when they have their own family they can bring their collection with them.
I decided to start this tradition in our own family.
Every year, my daughter picks up new decorations for her collection.
It\'s fun to look at all the old decorations and see how her collection grew.
Various decorations show how her tastes and interests have changed over the years.
You may think that only girls will be interested in collecting Christmas decorations.
In fact, my husband has a lot of Christmas decorations that he really likes.
He has several decorations representing his favorite universities and NFL football teams.
He also treasures many souvenir decorations his mother has made for him over the years.
You and your child can pick a variety of decorations to collect.
If you have the time and desire to make them, you can purchase multiple types of decorations at the craft store.
You can find beads, felt ornaments, plastic canvas ornaments, etc.
I found a Nemo felt trim bag at Walmart this year.
My kids love Nemo and I think they will be fun.
They look beautiful, but they look much longer than I thought.
I may finish them by next year!
You can choose to make decorations with your children.
Clay ornaments are simple and interesting to make.
If you don\'t want to make decorations, it\'s also fun to buy them.
This year, I bought my son\'s decorations at the Christmas crafts show.
The decorations they made with clay look like tank engine Thomas, very cute.
They provide their name and year decorations for free.
The Christmas market is a great place to look for unique decorations.
Look for decorations when you travel.
Many gift shops have decorations to buy to remind you of your favorite places.
Ebay is also a great place to look for decorations.
Last year I bought an ornament on Ebay with my husband\'s favorite football team.
I have never seen a person like this. he likes it very much.
As you can see, collecting Christmas decorations is fun for the whole family.
Every year, your child is looking forward to picking new decorations to put on the tree.
Make sure to write their name and year on the back or bottom of the decoration with a permanent mark so you can keep track of everyone\'s name!
